Current accounts

How does the current account comparison service work?

Apparently, in your lifetime you’re more likely to get divorced than change your current account. But with so many current accounts offering competitive features, there’s no reason to stick with one that isn’t a good deal.

Find a new current account now, or switch your existing account.

The cost of loyalty

Most of us don’t put too much thought into picking a current account. We open one and that’s it. Signed and sealed. But you could be getting more for your money, such as competitive interest rates on your credit and overdraft or an introductory interest free overdraft for up to a year.

As a current account customer, you may also be able to apply for a preferential savings account from your new provider, which often features a great interest rate.

Current accounts can also offer much more than great interest rates. Some providers include services such as free travel insurance, breakdown cover and discounts on loans, in return for a relatively low fee. So if you’re already paying for these services, you’ll save by switching to an account that includes them.

An impartial and free comparison

We are working with uSwitch.com to provide you with a free and impartial comparison of current accounts. We search for current accounts from over 30 different providers, including all the big names like Barclays, NatWest and Smile.

By supplying the answers to a few simple questions, our comparison service can work out which accounts match your needs and circumstances.

You can search for accounts with the features that matter most to you, such as a low interest rate on your overdraft or online banking.

It takes about five minutes to complete your search and then you are presented with a results table, listing the best accounts for you. If you want to switch from your existing bank account, you can see how much you will save over the next year. Plus, we highlight the interest rate on your credit and overdraft and point out any features we think you should know about.

But you don’t have to switch. You can search for a new account too.

So, what are you waiting for?

Once you compare accounts you may be able to apply for the one you want on our site. We let you know the requirements for the account. You may have to be aged over 18 and a UK citizen, for example. If you think you make the cut we will direct you straight to the provider’s website where you can complete their secure online application.

It’s all too easy. So why not see how much you could save today?
